PERFORMANCE WITH LIGHT BOX (2021)

Performance With Light Box is a video performance using found material, a light box, and an overhead webcam. Throughout the film I build, then destroy, various visual compositions while reciting an excerpt from Daichi Saito’s 2013 text titled ‘Vision, or Voice’. Following the performance I ran the footage through a Max MSP video delay patcher I created. I layered this distorted footage overtop of the original performance to add depth to the work. The work deals with digitally recorded files as memory, and their potential for manipulation via the illusionist camera apparatus.
